Creating Basic Costumes For Ladies and
Girls
Blouse:
White
or light colored blouse, satin or similar soft material, long sleeved,
with lace or embroidery if possible (thrift store?). Add lace around
sleeve cuffs, for femininity.
Skirt: Long
skirt, colorful print or solid color, with border. If no border, can
border with ribbon.
Vest: Consider
thrift store purchase, solid color, select size slightly smaller so that
vest cannot close. Remove buttons from vest, make holes to lace vest.
Laces can be made by braiding yarn.
Petticoat: Can
use half slip, adding eyelet lace to bottom to lengthen to floor or ankle
length or to length slightly shorter than skirt.
Creating Basic Costumes For Men and
Boys
Shirt:
Long-sleeved
shirt, white or light color. Open from neck to chest.
Pants: Solid
color pants to the knee. Stuff pants into knee length socks.
Knee
length socks: Consider
sport socks. If too thick for dancing, consider womens section (Unisex
socks) for all white knee length socks.
